You better WORK!

One of the fiercest broads in the world graced Wilmington with her presence on June 13th for Wilmington’s pride weekend.  RUPAUL!!! Supermodel of the world and host of the LOGO channel’s RuPaul’s Drag Race performed at the Hilton Riverside on June 13.  She put on a great performance and she looked smokin’!

Seeing as how Jessie is a huge fan of RuPaul and drag queens in general, (I think it’s all the glitter), she volunteered to help out with the show and support it any way she could.  The EOU crew was responsible for getting her green room together and having 4 models walk around in Jessie Williams originals to sell raffle tickets during the event.  The models’ hair was done by Steven Ward and makeup was done by MAC. The hair and makeup looked AMAZING!! Jessie also made Ru 3 custom made outfits and a special pair of feather earrings that she even named after RuPaul herself. Jessie, never one to skip over details, ordered Ru some delicious key lime cupcakes (her favorite) from Coastal Cupcakes and flowers from Moxie Floral Design Studio for her green room.

During the chaos of getting everything ready for Ru, she walked in!  As nice as could be, she thanked us for all of our hard work and especially for the cupcakes that she soon ran off with to her hotel room. She even made a comment saying she would be fine in her green room as long as she got to wear the beautiful outfits Jessie had made. We all had a blast that night and had a few cocktails in honor of Ru. And by few I mean many.

Boom kit kit kat kat owwwww!  Ru we love you!

Do you know about Freezepop?

Do you play video games such as Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, FreQuency, Amplitude, or Downhill Domination?  If so, you’ve probably heard Freezepop, the synth pop band from Boston.

<3

Luckily for us, Freezepop will be playing at the New Deal Fashion Show! With catchy electronic melodies similar to Le Tigre and Kraftwerk, they are full of energy and know how to get a party started. According to their own bio,

“Freezepop has always been something of an oxymoron: embraced by both hipsters and nerds; serious about irony; and retro-futuristic. A synth band in a guitar videogame, singing pop songs about rock. And it all somehow makes sense when you listen to the music.”

We agree, the music does make sense, and that is why we are super-excited to have them play for us! Don’t forget that all of the festivities will be May 9th. At 1pm the hand made market will start, followed by the fashion show at 7pm, and after that Freezepop will take the stage. Also, don’t forget that we will be announcing the winner of the Makeover Lotto at some point in the night.  Click here to buy tickets to the show.

See you there!

Makeover Lotto: Eleanor

The Edge of Urge Makeover Lotto is a drawing we have where 100% of the proceeds go to charity. The winner receives a new head-to-toe outfit from Edge of Urge, a haircut & color courtesy of Courtney Moody of Fluid Hair Salon, and a makeup makeover with $200 in cosmetics & one free pass to an educational seminar courtesy of Amy Kennison of M.A.C.

To enter, it’s $5 per entry (or $4 with a valid student I.D.). You can enter as many times as you want, so the more the better!  The winners are chosen by raffle, and the next winner will be announced at the New Deal Fashion Show!!

Our lovely winner for round two was Eleanor.

The lovely Eleanor

Eleanor already had a very distinct indie rocker (not soccer) mom appeal, which we loved! Instead of trying to changer her style, we wanted to give her some more glamorous yet subtle options.

Look at the concentration. wowow

She wanted to keep her hair simple, so Courtney of Fluid Hair Salon tried to play-up the shape of her face and keep it easy to maintain.

Spa day is not complete without OK magazine under the hairdryer

Amy Kennison of M.A.C also kept her makeup very natural but sexy.

Now down to business. Eleanor picked out the Choice Jeans by Gentle Fawn and an open-back top by Industry, which both looked amazing on her! She also chose the Bridget Shoes by Pink Studio for something sexy and comfortable.

eleanor and our own jessie!

Things got even better when she decided to slap on an Edge of Urge tattoo to make sure everybody knew where she got her new clothes.

Look at the dedication! She got an EoU tattoo!

We are getting really excited about our next Makeover Lotto because the winner will be choosen at the New Deal Fashion Show! That is sure to be a night filled with a lot of excitement, so make sure you enter the Makerover Lotto and show up at the New Deal to see who wins!

Oh my Lord, who put her in front of the booze?

On the upstairs side of news…  Bess has been breaking phones and computer bags, but she is also slaving away on the new web site, which looks great! We are all working nonstop to get this thing up and running ASAP. In my attempt to help out, I’ve started coding and helping Bess with other random web things. Pressing the same keys and starring at a computer screen all day long, I was initially scared that my hands would turn into some kind of claw and my eyes would stop working, but then I realize that having a claw and failing eyesight is cool, right? Just say yes.

Jessie, Katie, and Jess and everyone else here have all been wearing thinking caps around the store while trying to organize the New Deal Fashion Show

This thing is going to be huge, and great, and awesome, and fun. So, I hope all of you are ready. We are already hearing from designers, artists looking to sell at the market, and people wanting to volunteer, which makes us extremely happy.  Oh, and we are now on twitter! Follow us for more info on our sales and upcoming events.
