Hometown: Greensboro (G-Grit), NC

Hello world! Yes it is I, Taylor. I come to you straight from the mean streets of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina (Greensboro is close enough) where I learned to be gangsta. The most notable contributions that my hometown has made to the world are Cookout and Pita Delite….HOLLA!!!  Well a little more about myself – I am quite loud and unfiltered. I tend to say off the wall things that you might be thinking but have the common sense not to say aloud. I love music and if I thought I was good enough to do so, I would love to have a record deal. Alas it has yet to happen. Overall I am pretty laid back and love to laugh and enjoy life! Save the drama fo ya mama! I love meeting new people and can talk to pretty much anybody about anything. So, if you’re feeling bored and wanna ask me a question or just chat it up feel free to holla at cha boy!

The story of Mr. Munchi Holiday and the hole in the wall

Last night Blueberry, Jessie’s dog, was barking at a cat’s meow coming from outside of the house, so Jessie went outside to take a look for herself. Once outside she could hear Mr. Munchi Holiday, her little fat cat. (He lives inside all of the time…  but maybe he got out?)  She could not find him anywhere.  Where was the noise coming from?

Jessie went back inside and opened the closest door, the closet. “Fat boy! Where have you been?” she exclaimed. She brought him some treats but upon further inspection noticed that Mr. Munchi Holiday was in fact stuck in the wall behind her hot water heater.

Now, Munchi hides a lot, so quite often he is not seen for days at a time.  (If you really wanted to see him all you would have to do is set up a night vision camera by the food bowl…) But Jessie could tell that Mr. Munchi Holiday had been stuck for a long time by the way he quickly munchi-ed all the treats.  She tried to grab him, tried to lure him out with treats… however, no matter how hard she tried, Jessie could not free him.  She thought the only way would be to move the hot water heater, so she called Jess Y and her handy boyfriend Scott to see if they could come over the next day and help, “Maybe the cat will live until tomorrow,” she thought.

Not one to cross her fingers and wait, Jess Y and the handy boyfriend were on their way that night, tools in hand, ready for a late-night rescue.  Yay!

After fiddling with the hot water heater, they realized it could not be moved, and Munchi had actually wiggled free from the heater, only to go further into the wall and get stuck under the bathtub.

This left only one other option: to cut a hole in the wall of her bathroom.  (Much to the delight of the handy boyfriend, who seems to really enjoy breaking things, only to fix them again.)

The hole was cut and Mr. Munchi Holiday was freed.  However, this morning Mr. Munchi Holiday went right back to where he had previously been stuck. Luckily, with the hole cut out of the wall, he can now get in and out easily. In fact, Jessie is thinking about making the hole permanent by putting up a door with hinges so that Mr. Munchi Holiday can get in and out whenever he pleases.

Or, maybe what really happened was that Mr. Munchi Holiday was searching for this guy after watching Stephen King’s “Cat’s Eye”. Who knows…

Meet the Intern: Brian

But you can call me: Brian…or Brain (it happens)
Age: 22
School: University of North Carolina Wilmington
Hometown: Rocky Mount, NC

Hi there! I’m the new intern at Edge of Urge and here’s a little about me…  I grew up in the small town of Rocky Mount, NC, home to Thelonious Monk and Hardees. In high school I spent most of my time reading magazines and creating fake newspapers.  I have really diverse interests, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I often spend time thinking about what true virtual reality might be like and if time travel is possible.  I think design is just as much a social issue as it is one of aesthetics. I’m interested in how people interact with technology, and how the Internet is changing the way people find and share information, including information about fashion, design, and art. I like to laugh and have fun, so please, please, please feel free to ask me anything.

So, a bear walks into a bar.
“I’ll take a… a… well… I’ll take a beer,” he said.
“Why the big pause?” asked the bartender.
The bear looked at him and said, “Because I’m a bear!”

P.S. I’m a fan of horribly corny jokes, so please don’t be shy and tell me some!
