Mixing prints and patterns is taking over.  It’s a difficult trend to master, but I really feel if you can get it, you will find this is not a trend at all.

Color-blocking is still in.  Yes, still in, but it’s typical.  It looks good some of the time, but if you do it too much you’ll look like a box of crayons.

Mixing prints and patterns requires risk.  It requires thought and trial and error, but you must be willing to try it!

Take some inspiration from Peter Som.

Tip: if you’re new to the trend, start with mixing 2 neutral palettes.  Like 2 different black and white prints and patters.

Tip, too: Another easy way to do it, make one of your prints a single color, like the first image.  It’s all blue.  The solid color and print act as a neutral, and it can pair with anything that coordinates with that hue.

Here’s an everyday, easy way to pull off this trend.  The black and white bodysuit acts as a neutral, and the leopard pattern plays off of the black ‘crackle’.

Recently, OracleFox posted some accessory images from NYFW, which has been life-consuming obsession.

And I couldn’t help but notice how a lot of the jewelry we have in store now resembles these pieces that probably cost more than the my entire outfit.

I am loving the massive amounts of accessories piled on and decked out, and this is a much less expensive way to get the same amount of impact.  But hey, if you don’t want to buy anything new, pile on the ones you have and no one will know if they are old or new pieces!

And this trend is so easy to do, but might need some practice.

What you’ll need:

2 colors of nail polish- whatever you like!  Similar or contrasting colors
Clear coat polish
A tiny strip of thick weight paper

How to do it:

1- Paint your finger nails with the  first of the two colors.
2- Let them dry COMPLETELY!  (this is key)
3- Apply a second coat for maximum pop.
4- Let dry COMPLETELY
5- Paint with Clear coat and allow, again, to dry COMPLETELY.
6- Using the paper as a border, cover the part of the nail you want to remain the first color.  Try doing small areas around your cuticles, or split them halfway vertically or horizontally.
7- Apply the new color and allow to dry COMPLETELY, and repeat if desired.
8- Last, 2 coats of clear coat to protect your hard work.

Easy as pie.  Wait, pie isn’t easy to make.  Um, easy as painting fingernails.
