It may be 80 degrees in Wilmington (thanks global warming), but we’re trying to stir up some holiday spirit while we work with some new holiday music on the ipod. Check out Baby Its Cold Outside, featuring our own Jessie Williams (Yeah, she can sew and sing, crazy multi-talented lady!) at http://www.gordonmerrick.com or at http://myspace.com/gordonmerricks where you can download their songs for free to share and enjoy! Happy Holidays!
Last week, after a misplaced luggage incident at the airport, R&B star M’ya had her stylist run to Edge of Urge to replenish her wardrobe while she is in town to shoot a music video/movie. Handmade items were definately a hit with the singer/actress for the shoot. M’ya showed her appreciation for fashion and the arts when she bought a handknit shawl by Lea Williams’ Sick and Tired Productions as well as a one-of-a-kind Tillvaro bag, designed and constructed by Wrightsville Beach native, Corie Beer. Lea’s scarves, shawls and headbands are a staple at Edge of Urge, each beautifully handknit out of the best fibers. Corie, the brains and creativity behind Tillvaro bags, supplies us with guilt-free, gorgeous clutches, handbags and hobo bags finely crafted from recycled materials with beautifully modernized vintage touches. The airport may have lost her luggage, but she left with some awesome finds.
So if you caught the story on the WECT TV6 evening news or happened to watch MSNBC’s oddball report a few weeks ago you know that Edge of Urge recently had a “fox incident”. Sure, in retrospect it was a cute little critter, but at the time, I swear to you it snarled at us before rampaging through the store, eventually exiting the premises in a very anticlimatic ending to the tale. Nevertheless we ranked an interview on what must have been a slow news day. My theory is she heard we had some really rad new pieces by Gentle Fawn (har har, fox, fawn, get it?) and just had to come by the store. Personally the brand is my latest addiction, with simple yet sweet separates like the optional jacket, the bisous blouse and the neighbor tee . The attention to little details make the pieces super feminine without a hint of fussiness. When thrown on with my favorite jeans I might even say these clothes make me feel foxy…
