We brought home baskets of flowers from the market, gold-rimmed glasses, a
magnum of sparkling wine. We played cards on the shag carpet waiting for
dinner, made them into a house, a castle, tall enough to say we colonized space
that night; we turned off the lights and filled the bath in the dark, pouring in
crushed violets and salt, enough to float.
